I understand pregnancy as a time of life when the warmth and attention of family and loved ones are particularly important, when the comfort, tranquility, and safety of home are particularly needed.

That's why I approach photo shoots in the home with a special tenderness and awe. I like to show how the family lives those last few months of expectation: Dad setting up the crib, practicing with children's books, bringing brothers and sisters to the hospital, pampering the mother with her favorite tea and movies, stroking her belly under a warm blanket. It's as significant a time as the baby's actual arrival, and impossible to translate to the studio. Why even try?
